Influencing people is not as easy as them listening to you. It is easy to get people to listen to what you have to say to them but getting them to act on what you’ve told them is not that easy.

To be the most effective influencer of others, you must first establish trust and then be consistent. By garnering their trust and continuously looking out for their best interests. This can be accomplished by constantly telling the truth to your friends and others, rather than lying or bragging.
To do so, it’s critical to establish a foundation of real concern for people before attempting to steer them toward a specific outcome. You must demonstrate to them that you are trustworthy and really interested in assisting them.
Be an active listener rather than a transmitter
People want to be around those they like, and one way to get people to like you is to be a good listener. Yes, to be able to influence people you need to do the talking but people will listen to you more if they feel they are being heard.
So listen to them and offer them the advice and encouragement they need to succeed. Let people know they can come to you with their problems. And it is only by actively listening can you give them the right solutions.
Give people what they want
You can increase your level of influencing other people by giving them what they want. You can start by considering their needs, perspective, and temperaments. By doing and saying what they really want to hear from you, you can also catch their attention as well. Answer their questions and find out from them what you can do to show your care and concern for them.
