In Ghana, the most common hairstyle for women and children is braids hairstyles. Ghanaian women love to braid their hair in so many different ways and these hair braids styles are just gorgeous.
One reason why Ghanaian women love braids is that braids are a protective hairstyle that protects their natural 4c hairs. With braids, their natural hair is protected from the sun, harsh weather conditions, and other external factors.
This helps their natural 4c hair to grow healthy and longer. Also, braids last really long and once their hair is braided, they don’t have to worry about their hair for a very long time. Braids can last for as long as 8 weeks or more.
Although, it is not advisable to leave your braids in for more than 8 weeks as you need to remove the hair and give some care and attention to your natural hair too.
There are so many Ghana braids styles that Ghanaian women do. These include cornrows, box braids, havana twists, Fulani braids and so much more. Once the hair is braided, you can style it in so many different ways too, like in a bun, a ponytail, or simply having them flowing down your shoulders.
Ghana braids can be of any length or thickness depending on your preference. They can be short braids that are chin-length, medium-length that fall on your shoulders, or even as long as braids that go all the way to the knees.
Although the length and the thickness of the braids will determine how many packs of hair extensions to use. Ghana braids are braided using kanekalon hair extension and you can use anywhere from 2 packs of kanekalon hair extensions to about 6 packs depending on the braid style, the thickness, and the length. But for kids, just 1 pack of hair should be enough.
