How To Easily Do Strobing Makeup Technique

Strobing is a popular makeup trend that’s essentially highlighting without the contouring step. I recently gave it a try, and it turned out to be surprisingly easy compared to contouring, which can sometimes feel a bit tricky.

The process is simple. Start by applying your foundation as you normally would. Then, focus on highlighting areas where natural light hits your face to create a radiant, fresh look. This means applying a highlighter to your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, the center of your forehead, and your chin.

Strobing is a great option if you’re looking for an easy way to brighten up your complexion without needing to master complex techniques. It’s quick and gives you a glowing, dewy finish that’s perfect for both everyday wear and special occasions. If contouring has felt intimidating, strobing might be a fun and approachable alternative to achieve a similar, luminous effect.

Steps involved in strobing

Moisturize your face

Before applying any makeup, it’s essential to start with a well-moisturized face. This step creates a smooth, hydrated base, helping makeup apply evenly and last longer. Simply moisturize as you would on any other day, making sure to let it absorb fully before moving on to the next step. This not only keeps your skin looking fresh but also enhances that natural glow under your makeup!

Apply a primer

 Apply Primer

The next step is to apply a primer, an essential part of any makeup routine. Primer helps foundation glide on smoothly and acts as a barrier between your skin and makeup, promoting longer wear and a more polished finish.

Choose a primer based on your skin type: if you have oily skin, opt for a mattifying primer to control shine; if your skin is dry, go for a hydrating primer to keep your skin looking fresh and supple. This step preps your skin beautifully for makeup application, ensuring a flawless result!

Apply foundation and concealer

Apply Foundation

Now it’s time to apply your foundation. Select a foundation that best matches your skin tone, and always check that it blends seamlessly with the colour of your neck for a natural look.

Once your foundation is in place, use a concealer in your exact shade to cover any blemishes, dark spots, or areas needing extra coverage. This will create a smooth, even complexion, setting the perfect base for the rest of your makeup.

Apply powder

Set with Powder

Using a powder brush, lightly dust some setting powder over your face. This step helps to blend your makeup seamlessly, reduce shine, and give you a smooth, flawless finish. Focus on areas prone to oiliness, like the T-zone, to keep your look fresh and long-lasting throughout the day.

Now strobe

Once your base makeup is complete, it’s time to add a radiant touch with the strobing technique. Strobing is all about highlighting only the high points of your face where sunlight naturally hits. Think cheekbones, inner corners of the eyes, under the brow bone, and the cupid’s bow.

To achieve this look, use a cream or powder highlighter that’s a shade lighter than your skin tone. Apply it gently to these areas, adding just enough glow for a fresh, luminous effect. With strobing, there’s no need for contouring or bronzer; the focus is solely on highlighting to create a soft, natural, dewy look.

And that’s it! Simple, glowing, and effortlessly beautiful.
