Do LED Light Therapy Masks Work? A Review On Currentbody Products

While skincare is essential no matter how old you are, once you reach your late 30s, you just know it’s time to start using anti-aging products for your skin too. Because at this age, the fine lines and wrinkles start showing, especially with the areas around your eyes and your lips. So this is the stage that most people start using anti-aging products for their skin.

But if you ask me, you are never too young to start using anti-aging products. You know what they say about prevention? It is better than cure. So you don’t have to wait for the wrinkles to show before you start using anti-aging products. I think it is best to start using anti-aging skincare products in your 20s.

One anti-aging skincare that is gaining popularity lately is led light therapy masks, that is why I was so excited when Currentbody contacted me and offered to send me their CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask and CurrentBody Skin LED Lip Perfector.

What is an LED light therapy mask?

What is an LED light therapy mask?

LED stands for Light Emitting Diode and how it works is that when current passes through these diodes, they emit lights of different wavelengths. Studies have shown that when these lights come into contact with the skin they treat certain skin conditions like acne, skin redness due to inflammation and also reduce the signs of aging.

Different wavelengths reach different parts and tissues in your body. So what an LED light therapy can do for you will be dependent on the type of light involved.

CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask

The currentbody skin led light therapy mask uses two different lights which are red lights at a wavelength of 633nm and near infrared light at a wavelength of 830nm. Both of these lights work together to stimulate the production of collagen which tightens the skin and makes your face look firm and youthful. And each of these wavelengths work on different tissues to deliver the results you seek.

You can use this product at any time of the day, the most important thing is that you wash and thoroughly dry your face before you use it.

The currentbody mask comes with a strap, so you can put it on your face and go hands free. Although I noticed that the mask doesn’t really hold tight around my cheeks, so you may have to press it down around that area. But I doubt everyone will have this problem as we all have different face shapes.

Once you have your mask on, you can turn it on and let it do its job. If you have something to do, you can definitely get it done or you can simply relax as the mask will automatically go off after 10 minutes. So just using this mask for 10 minutes everyday is okay. But you can go ahead and turn it back on if you feel the need to use it for more than 10 minutes.

It comes with a charger so you can charge it and use it once it’s fully charged. You should be able to use it for at least 20 times before you will have to charge it again and that is very energy efficient as you don’t have to charge it after every use.

While you can use this on its own, you can also pair it with a sheet mask. Although, I would recommend the CurrentBody Skin Hydrogel Face Mask as this mask is specially formulated to be used along with the LED mask.

The sheet mask contains hyaluronic acid, antioxidant oregano and plumping Japanese cypress plant extract. The hydrogel in it also enhances the LED wavelength, this is why I recommend this mask as other masks may rather block the lights.

One thing you should however note is that, this is not an instant result product, you have to use it over time in order to see any significant changes in your skin. So make this part of your daily routine for about 2 months and see how it transforms your face and gives you some form of confidence.

CurrentBody Skin LED Lip Perfector

CurrentBody Skin LED Lip Perfector

The currentbody skin led lip perfector uses 4 different wavelengths. These are amber 605nm, red 633nm, deep red 660nm, and Infrared 830nm. These wavelengths penetrate into the tissues of the lips to boost collagen formation thereby improving the tone, fullness and nasolabial folds of the lips. It also causes cell renewal leaving you with rejuvenated skin and that makes it the perfect lip tool to do away with smile lines and wrinkles.

The lip perfector looks like a pacifier, except it’s not for babies but it’s for adults. But what this means is that you can simply put it inside your mouth and leave it just like you would do with a baby pacifier. It only takes 3 minutes a day to use this device although it requires continuous use for about 8 weeks before you can see any visible results.

But everybody is different and some people might take about 4-6 weeks to see results. But once you use this device daily, you should slowly start to see your lips feel softer and look fuller.

This product also works best when used with CurrentBody Skin Hydrogel Lip Mask and Currentbody was generous enough to send me some of those too.
