TRAVEL TIPS FOR PACKING YOUR SUMMER JEWELLERY

The harsh UK winter is almost over, and we can soon turn our thoughts to the summer, which is the time for jetting away to a sunny tropical paradise. And when packing your suitcase, take care of your summer jewellery with the following handy tips.

Tips for packing jewellery

Small Ziplock Bags –

These are always super handy and by placing a single item of jewellery into a bag and sealing it, the item will be protected. You can amass the bags and put them all in a sock, just remember where they are! These handy bags can be used for other items like swimming ear plugs and SD cards that you take with you for images and video. And by spending a little time thinking about safe storage, all your jewellery will be safe.

 travel tips for packing jewellery

Leave Expensive Jewellery At Home

You might be tempted to include that stunning pair of diamond earrings with you when you jet off to a tropical paradise. But in all honesty, you are better off leaving it in the concealed safe. Travelling increases the risk of losing items, not to mention the chance that someone might decide to steal your valuable jewellery, so leave the precious stones at home.

Brands like Nomination UK ladies get from shops like John Greed are better off left at home when flying abroad, especially if you will be spending time on the beach and in the ocean. If you are unsure about a particular item, ask yourself how much of a problem would it be if you lost it? If the very thought sends you into a panic, you should leave the item at home.

Packing Necklaces –

These items can be difficult to pack, but you can use either a cloth bag or a thick straw, into which you can slide a necklace, then using a lighter, burn both ends, which will keep the necklace in good condition. Don’t forget the necklace is in there and throw the straw away! You could skip the burning ends and simply clasp the necklace together while it is encased in the straw, which will protect it until it is time to wear the item.

Rings

These are small and therefore, easy to misplace, and by wrapping each ring in tissue and then putting them all into a cloth bag, they will be safe if you find a zip pocket inside your suitcase. Make sure your suitcase is the locking type, otherwise keep the jewellery in your carry-on luggage. There are some more great travelling tips when packing jewellery available online which might give you a few ideas.

Packing Earrings –

Earrings are very delicate, so great care must be taken when packing for a long journey. One great idea is to affix each earring onto an index card using safety pins, then wrap the card in some cloth and store it in a zipped pocket for safekeeping.

When planning your luggage for a foreign holiday, don’t take too much jewellery, as you will no doubt be able to buy some locally, which is also great fun. With all your expensive jewellery safely under lock and key, should the worst happen and you misplace an item while on holiday, it won’t be the end of the world.

I agree to not pack all of your jewelry for one trip. And, def. don’t put anything in your checked bag that means a lot to you. I had my luggage lost (thankfully I got it back the next day) on a trip last summer and I had some jewelry in that bag that I could have never replaced. Def. carry it on and don’t pack too many items that mean a lot!

    Great tips !
I always use small pockets for my small necklaces and small earrings.
But sometimes it doesn’t avoid the knots and it’s so annoying to take off the knots.
    Haha.

Good tips. I totally agree that you’re better off leaving your expensive jewelry at home. It would be so terrible to loose or forget an expensive piece there when you’re on vacation. I use baggies too. They really do a great job of keeping things separated and untangled.
