Blk Opl

So I’ve been using Blk Opl products for some months now and I thought it was time I shared my review on the blog. Blk Opl which is also known as Black Opal is a brand that was specifically developed for women of colour and as an african with black skin, I don’t know why it took me so long to try this brand.

My experience with the Blk Opl True Color Pore Perfecting Liquid Foundation

What I like about this foundation is that it doesn’t contain any parabens and it contains shea butter to keep the skin hydrated. You don’t need much for the face. Just a little bit is enough to give you the coverage you need.
However, I noticed that my face got oily so fast when I used the foundation without a primer and I had to touch up with powder very often. But with a primer, it lasted longer. I used it in the shade carob and that shade is perfect for my skin tone. But I don’t think it’s a foundation for someone with oily face like myself. It will work better for people with dry skin.

My experience with the BLK OPL True Color Skin Perfecting Stick Foundation SPF 15

For the foundation stick, I only use it for highlighting. So I got a shade that was lighter than my skin tone. I also set it with the sacha buttercup setting powder, which is by the way the best setting powder ever. So it works great as a highlighter. I can’t say the same for using it as a foundation for full face makeup.

My experience BLK OPL Total Coverage Face and Body Concealer

This concealer comes with a sponge tip that makes it easy to apply. All I need is a little dab here and there on black spots and around my eyes to cover my dark circles and it blends so flawlessly.

The colour is perfect for my skin tone but what I don’t like about it is the shine. Especially if used without a primer, I have a very oily skin and this doesn’t help at all.

I think it will be great for someone with dry skin to give you that fresh dewy look.

But if you have oily skin and you are want to use this, then you should get a really good primer to help combat the shine.
I still use it every now and then though because like I said I love the colour. The shade is perfect for my skin. And the primer is able to control the shine. It is truly made for the woman of colour.

They sound like great products! 🙂 I haven’t heard of the brand before, but it’s not a line targeted for me so that’s probably why!

Hope that you are having a lovely weekend 🙂 We are getting some much-needed rain here which is fantastic. Does mean we aren’t doing what we had planned though, haha!

This sounds great how it contains sheer butter – I have eczema and very dry patches on my face so I actually use 100% natural olive butter as primer.. I don’t know how I came to this but it is genuinely the best thing as a primer I have ever come across – foundation wont crack, eyeshadow doesn’t crease.. amazing! So I assume this foundation having a similar ingredient in, it may do a similar job for me. great post!
