Crispy Baked Sweet Potato Chips

These crispy homemade sweet potato chips are a healthy and delicious snack made with just a few simple ingredients. Perfect for after-school munchies, light evening snacking, or even serving with dips at a party.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line one or two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Peel the sweet potatoes. Using a mandoline slicer (highly recommended for even, thin slices) or a very sharp knife, slice them into 1/8-inch thick rounds.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the sweet potato slices with the olive oil until they are evenly and lightly coated.
  4. Sprinkle the salt, pepper, and any other optional seasonings over the slices and toss again to distribute evenly.
  5. Arrange the slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet(s). It is very important that they are not overlapping, or they will steam instead of crisp up.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes. After 10 minutes, keep a close eye on them. They are done when the edges are curled and brown and the centers are golden. Baking time may vary based on thickness.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the chips cool directly on the baking sheet for at least 10 minutes. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
  8. Enjoy immediately as a perfect crunchy snack!
